Aquarium Behavior: Can be aggressive towards fish with similar shape or lifestyles.
Maximum Length: 4.3 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods such as, mysis, brineshrimp, and chopped shellfish, gradually introduce pellet or flaked preparations as fish become more settled into their new environments.
Reef Compatibility: Can/will consume ornamental shrimp.
Quick Notes: Other fish such as dwarf angelfishes, tangs, or other hogfishes and wrasses can bully this species.

Tank: Fish-only or live rock-based rish-only system. Provide a 100 gallon or larger and should be kept singly.
Aquarium Behavior: Should be stocked with suitably robust fish.
Maximum Length: 10 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods, including chopped shellfish, mysis, krill, whole clams, and similar.
Reef Compatibility: Will eat many of the popular ornamental invertebrates stocked as algal grazer or scavengers.
Quick Notes: Act as cleaners when juveniles. Provide good water quality and sufficient aquarium sizes for long-term requirements.

Coral Hogfish

Tank: Fish-only or live rock-based fish-only system. Provide 100 gallons or larger and should be kept singly.
Aquarium Behavior: Should not be kept with smaller fish or sensitive species. Should be kept with Robust tankmates.
Maximum Length: 10 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods such as mysis and brine shrimp. Should accept flake and granular foods as well.
Reef Compatibility: Will attack or eat beneficial detritivores associated with reef aquariums, such as snails and hermit crabs.
Quick Notes: Could be bullied by large wrasses or larger dottybacks. Usually much more harder as adults then juveniles.

Cuban Hogfish
(Bodianus pulchellus)

Tank: Fish-only or live rock-based fish-only system. Provide 160 gallons or larger and should be kept singly.
Aquarium Behavior: Should be kept with robust tankmates, will be aggressive towards much smaller fish and could eat gobies.
Maximum Length: 11.4 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods; mysis, brineshrimp, chopped shellfish, and formula foods.
Reef Compatibility: Could be safe with some corals but not with most ornamental or useful species of invertebrates.
Quick Notes: Juveniles my be a victim towards other larger fish, but are soon able to hold their own. They will play the roll as a cleaner fish.

Tank: Fish-only or live rock-based fish-only system. Provide 120 gallons or larger and should be kept singly.
Aquarium Behavior: Can be aggressive once an adult but should cause many problems.
Maximum Length: 11.8 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods; mysis, brineshrimp, chopped shellfish, and formula foods. Provide frozen foods and vitamin supplements.
Reef Compatibility: Could be safe with some corals but not with most ornamental or useful species of invertebrates.
Quick Notes: Costly, this juvenile becomes more confident when it turns into an adult.
