Tank: Can be housed in fish-only system but prefers plenty of hiding places. Live rock-based fish-only, or a reef aquarium with care. 66 gallons or larger and is best kept singly or in mated pairs.
Aquarium Behavior: Do not house with fish small enough to be consumed by this species. Will not thrive in the presence of very busy or territorially aggressive fish.
Maximum Length: 7.4 in
Food & Diet: Meaty foods such as mysis, brineshrimp, and a variety of shellfish.
Reef Compatibility: Will eat smaller species of ornamental shrimp.
Quick Notes:Try to ensure that this fish is getting enough to eat. If necessary try to feed under blue, or "moon," lights to encourage this fish out into the open. This fish is also commonly known as the marine betta because of its fins.

Tank: Fish-only or live rock-based fish-only systems. Provide 238 gallons or larger and is best kept singly or in pairs.
Aquarium Behavior: This fish's distinctive swimming style appears ritualized and labored.
Maximum Length: 27.5 in
Food & Diet: Provide shellfish, whole fish, and similar meaty foods.
Reef Compatibility: May harm ornamental shrimp but should not touch coral. Unsuited to reef aquariums due to its large size and inevitably high waste production.
Quick Notes:This species is widely available however, it is not suitable for most aquariums as it reaches a very large size and is a predator. Consider its long-term care.
